Changed my mind about using a cheap paint sprayer for a kitchen cabinet job
I figured I'd save cash and bought a $80 sprayer from a big box store for my cabinet repaint. It clogged every ten minutes, left a rough texture, and I lost a full day just cleaning and fixing it. Ended up renting a professional unit for another $60 and redoing the whole first coat. All told, I wasted about $140 and two days of work. Has anyone found a decent budget sprayer that actually holds up for more than one project?

My Wagner Control Pro 130 actually lasted three whole house projects before it gave out. That cheap sprayer you got is basically a toy, it's not built for real paint. I've learned the hard way that a mid-range model around $150 is the actual entry point for anything serious. You can't expect a tool that costs less than a good brush set to handle latex or enamel without constant issues.

Honestly, that Wagner is a good call but I've seen them die on the first gallon of thicker paint. Tbh the real issue is that any electric sprayer under $200 just can't handle the strain for long.

My old Harbor Freight sprayer was maybe $40 and it's still kicking after two rooms and a fence. The trick is to thin the paint way more than the can says (like, add a cup of water to a gallon) and strain it twice. It's a pain, but it beats a rental.
