Visited a friend's new place and saw a genius fix for a sticky sliding door

I was over at my friend's apartment in the West End yesterday and their patio door was a real pain to open. Instead of calling a handyman, they took a bar of plain soap and rubbed it along the bottom track. It took maybe two minutes and now the door glides like it's brand new. I've always reached for WD-40 for stuff like that, but the soap doesn't attract dirt the same way. Has anyone else tried this trick on different kinds of tracks?

I used candle wax on my drawer slides and it worked great.

Been there. My kitchen drawers were a nightmare until I tried the same trick. It's amazing how well a cheap candle can fix that awful sticking sound. Total game changer for old furniture.

A buddy of mine tried the soap trick on his bifold closet doors that were always catching on the bottom. He was about to rip them out and buy new ones. Soap fixed it in about thirty seconds. He told me he was honestly embarrassed he didn't try it years ago. Now he keeps a bar of soap in his toolbox just for that purpose. It's cheap and it doesn't leave that greasy mess like oil does.
