The before and after of my garage door opener is just wild
I mean, for like three years it sounded like a dying robot, you know, all grinding and squeaking. I finally got around to greasing the chain and track last weekend with some white lithium grease from the hardware store. The difference is crazy. It went from a 90-second ordeal of horrible noise to a smooth 15-second whisper. My neighbor actually texted me to ask if I got a new opener. Has anyone else had a simple fix that made something feel brand new?

Why even fix it when the noise kept the raccoons away?

Honestly that white lithium grease is magic stuff, my old door sounded like a metal monster every morning. Just wiped the track down with a rag to get the worst of the dirt off before applying it, wasn't too bad. Totally get what you mean about it feeling brand new, it's such a good feeling. Sorry lunakim, but my quiet door is worth more than scaring off some raccoons lol.

Seriously, just some grease? I've been putting off dealing with my own door because I assumed it needed a whole new gear assembly or something. What kind of mess did you have to clean off the old track first, or did you just grease right over the grime?
