Shoutout to the old chisel I nearly threw out after 10 years of misuse

I spent a decade sharpening my chisels on a bench grinder thinking that was the right way. After ruining a dovetail joint on a walnut table in my garage, my buddy Mike who restores antiques pointed out the blue burn marks on the edge. He told me I was annealing the steel every time I touched it to the grinder wheel. Switched to wet stones and a cheap 20 dollar guide from Harbor Freight. Now my chisels actually hold an edge for more than 20 minutes of work. Anybody else go years before realizing they were wrecking their tools?

Isnt that just life though... learning the hard way after years of doing it wrong.

My friend Karen spent 8 years as an accountant before she realized she actually hated numbers and now she runs a dog grooming van. Some lessons just take a while to land.

Man I don't know if I'd call 8 years of accounting "doing it wrong." Sounds like she figured out she wanted something different, which is pretty normal. People act like every detour in life is some huge failure when really it's just part of the deal.
