Pro tip: check your sump pump before spring rains hit
I ignored my sump pump for like 5 years until last month when a light rain flooded my basement. Turns out the float switch was just jammed with a pebble and it cost me $300 in wet drywall. Has anyone else had a pump fail over something stupid like that?

Hold on now, Mother Nature gave you a little pebble and you're calling it a sucker punch? That's a free bonus item right there, like a surprise scratch ticket in your fast food bag. Some people get a cracked driveway or a tree branch through their roof, you got a tiny stone that probably didn't even chip your paint. Sounds like the universe threw you a soft pitch, not a fastball.
