I was putting my drill bits back in the case wrong for a decade until my kid asked why they were all mixed up.
I always just tossed them into the plastic case after a job, thinking the foam would hold them. Last month my son, who's eight, looked at the mess and said 'Dad, the numbers on the foam go with the numbers on the bits, right?' I felt like an idiot. The case is organized by size and I've been jamming them in anywhere, probably dulling them against each other. How many other simple things are we all doing wrong without even knowing?

Honestly it's not just about dulling them, you're probably losing the tiny ones constantly. I bet you've bought replacements for bits that were just buried in the bottom of the case. The system is there to save your money and time, lol.

Can you tell I've done this too?

The 10-pack of small drill bits I bought last month was $8 and I've already lost three of them in my junk drawer, so yeah. @taylor_young you actually made me realize I'm probably down like $50 on replacement bits over the last year, I always thought the case was just extra plastic but now I get it.
