Am I the only one who trusted drywall anchors for a heavy mirror?
I hung a large mirror using only those small plastic anchors. It stayed up for a few days, then fell and cracked my floor tile. Now I have to deal with the damage and rehang it properly. Always use a stud finder or heavy-duty anchors for anything weighty. It saves you from a costly mess later on.

What about heavy duty anchors in drywall?

Honestly, @the_oscar, how heavy-duty are we really talking here? Drywall can only hold so much, no matter what anchor you use (you know, like for shelves or TVs). Most things people want to hang don't need those giant anchors anyway. I've seen tons of overkill where a simple plastic anchor would do the job. Check the weight of your item first before going for the big guns. But calling it "heavy duty" just sounds like overthinking a simple problem.

My friend Paul tried hanging his electric guitar on the wall with those little white anchors. He figured it wasn't that heavy. Woke up to a huge crash, found the guitar on the floor with a cracked neck and a fist-sized hole in the wall. The anchor just ripped right out. He had to patch the drywall and get the guitar repaired. Now he uses those metal toggle bolt things for anything over a few pounds. Still complains about the bill for the guitar fix every time we talk.
