Unpopular opinion: flat plates belong on the bottom row, not the top
My wife and I argued about this for about 4 years. She always stacked dinner plates on the top rack and bowls on the bottom. Last month I swapped them during a midnight load and woke up to every single plate bone dry, no puddles. Has anyone else found that the top rack's angle just doesn't work for big flat surfaces?

Oh man, you just hit on something bigger than dishes. I've noticed this same pattern everywhere - how we stack things in our pantry, fold towels, even how we arrange apps on our phones. Most people just follow what their parents did without ever questioning if it actually works better. The flat plate thing totally clicked for me when I realized the top rack's tilt is designed more for cups and bowls to drain, not for big flat surfaces that trap water.

Always feel like half of what we do is just copying habits without thinking why.
