Rant: I spent $60 on angled dishwasher racks and they broke in 2 weeks

I bought those clip-on angled racks that are supposed to help you fit more plates at an angle. Total waste of money. One snapped off after 3 washes and the other started rusting. I'm out $60 and back to just stacking stuff flat like normal. Has anyone actually had those things last more than a month?

Heard a contractor friend say those things are basically just cheap plastic that can't handle heat cycles and water pressure. Sounds like you got exactly what everyone else does. Did you try getting a refund or just toss them?

Yeah, the "cheap plastic that can't handle heat cycles" part hits home. I had a similar set of those push-fit fittings from a brand I won't name, and they started leaking after maybe six months. What finally worked for me was switching to brass compression fittings instead of fighting with the plastic ones. They cost a little more but I haven't had a single issue since. Also, I learned the hard way that if you don't fully support the pipe with a bracket near the fitting, the weight of the water can make those plastic ones crack over time. So I'd say try getting a refund if you can, but honestly, it's probably worth just cutting your losses and upgrading.

The contractor friend is right, and it's crazy how this same pattern plays out everywhere. @taylor_young nailed it with the brass compression fittings being the real fix. Kinda reminds me of how people cheap out on phone cases and then wonder why their screen cracks after one drop lol. Manufacturers know most folks go for the lowest price tag so they keep making this flimsy junk. But like you said, you pay either way upfront or in the headache of fixing it later.
