My mother-in-law's visit changed how I load silverware

She came over last Sunday and saw me putting all the spoons facing up in the basket. She told me that's how you get water pooling inside them, and she's been doing this since 1998. I switched to facing them down that same day and yeah, they actually come out bone dry now. Has anyone else changed their whole setup after someone called them out?

She caught me doing the same thing last year. Spoons all facing up every time. Now I flip them down and it's wild how much of a difference it makes. No more drying them off by hand before putting them away. Feels like a total life hack honestly.

Oh come on, "life hack"? I'm calling it a life downgrade. Spoons facing down just traps all that moisture in the bowl part against the divider, so you end up with little water spots or worse, that weird metal smell when you grab one. Plus I've dropped so many spoons trying to fish them out from the basket when they're nested together facing down. Facing up they dry fine if you just leave the rack for an hour or shake em off first. Not buying the hype.

Facing them up actually lets the air get to the whole spoon better, so you don't get water spots.
