Lesson learned at a rental cabin in Gatlinburg last spring
My family rented a cabin for a week and the dishwasher had a nasty film on everything after the first wash. Turned out someone threw a glass casserole dish with baked-on cheese straight in without rinsing, and it jammed the spray arm. Has anyone else dealt with a rental dishwasher that ruined a full load because of one lazy guest?

Oh man, did that ever ruin a vacation or what? I had the exact same thing happen at a rental in Myrtle Beach last summer, we ran the dishwasher and everything came out with this gross greasy film that smelled like old tacos. Took me an hour to figure out some genius had thrown in a pan with baked on sauce that completely blocked the bottom spray arm. I feel your pain, it's such a hassle when you're on vacation and supposed to be relaxing, not troubleshooting appliances. Did you end up having to hand wash everything after that or did the cabin people fix it for you?

A friend of mine had this happen at a beach house in Florida and she spent two whole days rewashing everything by hand because the rental company couldn't send anyone out until Monday! She said it totally killed the relaxing vibe of the trip.
