The color calibration chart I ignored for 2 years finally made sense
Someone in the print shop downtown showed me how my monitor was way off compared to their proofing setup. They ran a quick test with a $40 color card and my shadows were basically crushed, no wonder my pieces looked flat when printed. I went home and spent an afternoon matching my screen brightness and white point to the room lighting I actually work in. Now when I post new work in my portfolio, the uploads finally look like what I see on screen. Has anyone else had a print shop catch a mismatch like that and had to redo their whole display settings?
