That time a Reddit stranger told me to stop using default brushes
That time a Reddit stranger told me to stop using default brushes. About 4 years ago I posted a piece in here and some user named pixel_puncher commented that my shading looked muddy because I was relying on the basic round brush too much. I got defensive at first because I was like how dare you critique my style. But after sitting on it for a week I decided to try their advice and switched to a textured brush pack someone shared for free on Gumroad. Honestly it was like night and day. My edges cleaned up and I stopped fighting the blending so much. Now every time I open a new canvas I start with a rough chalk brush and only switch to smooth ones for highlights. Has anyone else had a random comment that actually fixed your workflow for good?

Man, that's how I stopped ignoring my engine light. Good advice hits different.
