Talked to a 3D artist at a coffee shop who made me rethink my own work
He said "your backgrounds are too clean" and that hit me hard because I spend hours perfecting every pixel. Been a week now and I can't stop noticing how boring my scenes look without some grunge or clutter. Anyone else found that adding imperfections made their digital art feel more real?

Read this thing about how Japanese artists purposely add flaws to make stuff feel alive.

Yeah, the wabi-sabi concept, works great for pottery too (glazes crack in just the right way).

Yeah the "purposely add flaws" thing @tyler6 mentioned is spot on. I started throwing random dust specks and stray brush strokes into my backgrounds and suddenly everything looks lived in.
