Overheard someone at a meetup trashing AI art and it changed my mind

I used to be pretty anti-AI in any digital art showcase. Then at a local meetup in Portland, this guy said "your brushstrokes don't matter if the composition is boring, and a machine can't teach you that." It made me realize I was focusing on the wrong thing. I spent the next week studying composition in classic paintings instead of worrying about tools. Has anyone else here had a similar shift in what they value in art?

Changed my mind too honestly. Was all about hating on AI until I realized my own art was technically pretty but had no soul or interesting structure. Started focusing on what makes a piece actually work and my stuff got way better.

Huh, that's a wild take to me. I mean, @lindamartin, I get the growth angle, but stripping out the tool just feels like giving up the best part. Like, learning structure is great, but AI can push your style into places you'd never get on your own, so why limit yourself?
