Overheard a kid at the art supply store say 'Procreate is for old people' and it hit me how fast this whole scene moved
Dude was buying a Wacom while talking about how his first app was on an iPad Pro from like 2021 and I'm sitting here remembering when I used to trace magazine ads in MS Paint on a CRT monitor, has anyone else felt the generational whiplash in digital art tools yet?

Nah I gotta push back on "every generation thinks their tools are the real ones." That kid had a point though. Procreate IS old in digital art years. It came out in 2011. That's 14 years ago. Think about it - a kid born today will look at Procreate the way we looked at Corel Painter or whatever was on those old XP machines. The iPad Pro that kid was talking about from 2021 already has like 4 newer models out. Technology moves so fast that "generational" in digital art is like 3-4 years now, not 10-20 like with traditional art. That CRT monitor MS Paint era feels like ancient history to these kids because it basically is.

Procreate is for old people" - wow, that kid's gonna be in for a surprise when they realize their grandpa probably used a literal rock to draw on cave walls. I get what you mean about the whiplash but honestly every generation thinks their tools are the "real" ones. The kid with the Wacom today will be someone else's "old" tomorrow.
