My entire Procreate illustration just corrupted 3 hours in

Was working on a commissioned portrait piece Thursday night, had layers and blending all perfect, then the app just froze and poof - gone. Autosave only caught the sketch from 2 hours prior. Has anyone else had luck recovering corrupted Procreate files or do I just need to start religiously exporting PNGs mid-project?

Every digital tool has that one weakness we all learn the hard way. It's like how my bank's app once ate a rent payment because of a server timeout, and the money just vanished for three days. I've started manually taking pictures of my car's odometer every month because the Toyota app glitched and lost a year of trip data. With art programs, the autosave works great until the moment you actually need it. Get in the habit of hitting that export button like a nervous tic, same way people take phone screenshots of their boarding passes these days.

So when that autosave fails on you, do you find yourself relying on recovery tools or just accepting the loss and starting over? I ask because most people I know who do digital art seem split between trusting the backup files and just writing it off as a learning experience. What's your go-to move when the program betrays you like that?
