I bought a $300 screen protector for my drawing tablet and it was a total waste

Everyone in this community talks about how a matte screen protector is a must-have for texture and control. I finally caved and bought a high-end one, the Paperlike for my iPad Pro. It cost me about $300 for a two-pack after shipping. Honestly, it just made my screen look grainy and dull, and my Apple Pencil tip wore down super fast. I felt like I lost all the vibrant color and sharpness I paid for in the display. After two weeks, I peeled it off and went back to the bare glass. Has anyone else tried one of these and ended up hating it?

Yeah I saw a review that said the same thing about the graininess. Makes the pencil feel weird too, like it's dragging.

Is it really that bad though? @margaret_taylor42 are you with me on this?

My old Wacom felt better until I tried drawing without one.
