Found a quick trick for organizing layers in big art files

I was working on a character illustration with like 50 layers and kept losing track of which one had the shading. Started naming each layer with a color code like "skin_shadow_blue" and grouping them by body part. Saves me maybe 20 minutes of clicking around per session. Anyone else got a system that keeps their layer panel from looking like a mess?

Oh neat, I just name mine after whatever snack I'm eating at the time.

Ugh, same here. It's a mood thing, honestly.

I read somewhere that some artists actually name their layers after emotions or weather conditions, like "angry_sky" or "calm_lighting." Which sounds artsy but I tried it and just got confused because my "moody_arm" turned out to be the left one when I needed the right. Color coding by body part is smarter, I might steal that system actually. Snacks are risky too, I named a layer "cheetos" once and couldn't tell if it was the hair or the background. Layer management is one of those things nobody warns you about until you're 40 layers deep and sweating.
