Finally got my first piece into a local gallery show
So, I've been making digital art for a few years but just kept it online. Last month, our local library in Boise had a call for a 'Digital Frontiers' show. I almost didn't submit, thinking my stuff wasn't 'real' art for a wall. I sent in a piece I made in Procreate, printed it on canvas myself, and dropped it off. The opening was last Friday, and seeing it there with a little tag with my name... it just hit different. A guy there asked me about my brush settings, which felt so cool. It made me stop thinking of my work as just files on a screen. Now I'm looking at more local calls for entry. Has anyone else made that jump from online posting to physical shows? How did you pick what to print?

That feeling when you see your name on the tag is just unreal. I remember the first time I had a photo in a coffee shop here, and I must have walked past it ten times. The fact that someone asked you about your brush settings means they were really LOOKING, which is the best part. Going from screen to wall changes everything, it makes it feel permanent. For picking what to print, I always go with the piece I've stared at the longest on my own screen, the one I keep coming back to.

Oh man, that's awesome! I made the jump last year and my method for picking was so dumb. I spent weeks overthinking it, then finally just printed the piece my cat sat and stared at the longest. Figured if it held his judgy little attention, it might work for people. The real shock was seeing how different the colors looked on canvas compared to my stupid monitor. I had to reprint the thing twice.
