Accidentally changed my whole digital painting process at a coffee shop in Portland

I was at this little place called Heart Coffee last Tuesday trying to finish a commission piece, and my tablet pen died on me. I had like 2 hours before the file was due so I just started painting with my finger on my iPad Pro in Procreate. Honestly it forced me to loosen up my strokes and stop overworking every single line. I ended up finishing the whole character illustration in about 45 minutes with way more texture than I usually get. Now I purposely turn off my pen pressure sensitivity sometimes to get that raw finger-painted look. Has anyone else had a random hardware fail that actually improved their art style?

Finger painting, though? On an iPad? My brain is legit short-circuiting.

Right? Same here, took me forever to stop trying to use my knuckles.

Isn't it wild how a dead battery can actually teach you something? @robinp72 I feel you on the knuckle thing though, took me ages to stop treating the screen like a Wacom.
