A stranger at a coffee shop saw my tablet and asked about my art

I was sketching on my iPad at a local cafe in Portland last Tuesday, just messing around with a landscape. This older guy comes up and says "that tree looks like it's moving" and asked if I sold prints. It was just a quick sketch I did for fun, but his comment made me realize I should actually share more of my work online. Has anyone else had a random compliment that pushed them to post more?

Oh man that's such a cool story! That whole thing about the tree looking like it's moving is exactly the kind of comment that can flip a switch in your brain. I had something similar happen when a stranger said my portrait sketch had "sad eyes" and it made me realize I was actually capturing emotion without trying. That one little thing can make you see your own work differently. It's crazy how we get stuck in our heads thinking our stuff is just okay until someone else points out something specific they liked. You should totally go for it and post more, even if it's just quick sketches.

And you @thea857 is right, it only takes one comment to flip that switch. Have you ever looked back at old sketches and noticed stuff you never saw before after someone pointed it out?

Saw a buddy get told his photo looked "haunting" and now he posts almost daily.
