My buddy had the exact same thing happen to him but with his old Cummins. He was bleeding his injectors the way his grandpa taught him and this old farmer walks up and says "son you're doing it backwards, no wonder it takes forever to start." Turned out he was cracking the wrong lines first and pushing air the long way through the system. Spent six months frustrated every morning and the fix took like five minutes. The guy even showed him a trick with a little bottle and some fuel so he didn't make a mess. Funny how the old guys usually know what they're talking about even when they come off like jerks about it.

Wait, is it really that big of a deal though? I mean yeah it sucks having to crank a diesel forever but six months of frustration over a bleeding order that takes five minutes to fix sounds a little dramatic to me. Most guys I know just crack all the lines and crank until fuel squirts out and it works fine eventually. Maybe I'm just impatient but I'd have figured it out way sooner or just looked it up online. And that trick with the bottle, I've seen that before, it's just a way to catch the fuel so you don't make a mess, not some secret knowledge. Feels like people overcomplicate these things just to feel clever.
