Vent: I bought a $300 'universal' diesel diagnostic scanner that couldn't even pull codes from a 2015 Duramax.
Has anyone else found a scanner that actually works across different heavy-duty brands without needing a dozen different subscriptions?

Saw a thread on a trucker forum where a guy swore by the OBDLink MX+ for heavy duty stuff. He said it worked on his older Freightliner and a newer International, which is pretty rare. The key was getting the heavy duty add on pack from their website. Still not truly universal, but better than most.

That's interesting, @ben_nguyen. Did the forum thread mention if the add on pack actually gave real engine data like injector rates or turbo pressure, or was it just pulling basic codes? I've been burned before by tools that say they work on heavy duty but only scratch the surface. How deep did he say the data went on those older trucks?

Remember reading that same thread, and the guy seemed really pumped about live data. He posted screenshots showing actual fuel rail pressure and DPF temps, not just generic P-codes. Makes me wonder if the add-on pack is the real deal for once.
