Threw $400 at a cheap injector tester that gave wrong readings every time
Spent 3 days chasing a misfire that turned out to be a bad tester instead of bad injectors, has anyone else dealt with a tool that cost more in lost time than it was worth?

Honestly sounds like user error to me. Most cheap testers work fine if you know what you're doing. Maybe spend the time learning how to use your tools instead of blaming them.

Read something a while back about how cheap multimeters can actually give false readings on batteries under load, which is a whole different thing than checking voltage. They just can't handle the current draw properly. Plus a lot of those budget testers have leads that break or give bad contact after a few uses, so even if you know what you're doing you might still get bad numbers. Not saying everyone should run out and buy a Fluke, but there's a middle ground between blaming the user and pretending all tools are equal.

Ugh, that stings. I once bought a multimeter that said my battery was fine right up until the car wouldn't start. Guess I should have known better than to trust the $15 special.
