The shop air dryer that made me question our whole compressor setup

Walked into a friend's shop outside Tulsa last month and noticed their air lines were bone dry. No water in the filters, no sludge in the drop legs. They run four bays off one 80 gallon unit with a $300 refrigerated dryer they wired in themselves. My shop in Norman has a $4,000 setup that still spits moisture every humid day. I asked what they did different and he said the trick was just putting the dryer AFTER the tank with a long drop before the first tool. Simple math, I spent 20 minutes reconfiguring our lines and the difference is night and day. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that beat your expensive original install?

Yeah that's a solid tip but the real win is the long drop line, most people skip that part and still get water in the lines. The dryer after the tank is standard practice, the drop is what actually settles the moisture before it hits your tools.
