That injector cup took me 6 hours to get seated right
I spent a whole afternoon fighting with a stuck injector cup on a 2005 Cummins ISX. Turned out I was using the wrong puller adapter and the cup was just slightly cocked the whole time. Anyone else run into a simple job that turned into an all-day project?

Yeah the ISX cups are picky about being perfectly square when you seat them. I've found that a little bit of diesel fuel on the o-rings and taking it real slow with a hand pump helps more than trying to force it with the puller. Once you've done one that fought you like that you never forget the feel of it going in right.

You ever been dead set on how to do something and then realize you've been wrong the whole time? I used to think using friction with the puller was the only way, just crank till it stops. But after fighting one for hours, I tried @scott.shane's suggestion about the diesel fuel and taking it slow. That little bit of lube and patience made the whole thing slide in like butter. Now I won't even touch a cup without doing it his way. Changed my whole approach to seating injectors.
