Spent $400 on a set of top-tier injectors and it burned me bad
I thought I was doing my old Cummins a favor last spring by buying these fancy reman injectors from a place online. Paid $400 for a set of six, which seemed like a steal compared to OEM prices. First month they ran fine, but then number three started acting up with a rough idle. By month three, three of them were leaking and dropping fuel into the oil. Took me a whole weekend to pull them out and swap back to the old ones I kept in a box. The reman company gave me a runaround on warranty, saying I installed them wrong. I ended up spending another $150 on gaskets and seals to put my old injectors back in. Has anyone else had bad luck with these budget reman injectors, or did I just pick the wrong supplier?

Man I've been there with reman injectors and it's a total crapshoot. You really gotta research the supplier's reputation on diesel forums before buying because some of those places just clean up junk and call them rebuilt. That warranty runaround is the worst part, next time stick with a known brand or a local shop that stands behind their work.

Honestly, that "steal compared to OEM prices" line always gets me. Yeah, you saved $300 up front but then you spent a whole weekend cussing at your truck and another $150 on gaskets just to go back to square one. That's like buying a "discount" steak from the back of a guy's van and then being shocked when it tastes like old shoe leather. Ngl, some of those reman places probably just blast the old ones with a pressure washer and call it good. You got the "free mystery puzzle" edition of injectors where the game is guessing which one will grenade your oil next.

Tbh this whole mindset bleeds into everything now. I see people do the same thing with power tools, lawnmowers, even phones. They grab the cheapest option online, then spend triple the time and money trying to make it work instead of just buying the decent thing once. It's like we're all addicted to the thrill of thinking we beat the system, but really the system just laughs its way to the bank while we're elbow deep in grease on a Saturday.
