Power service additive nearly seized my 6.7 on a cold start

Ran two bottles of that winter additive in my 2015 F-250 last month, the one with the red label. Temps dropped to 12 degrees overnight up near Spokane. Cranked it next morning and it sounded like a cement mixer full of rocks for about 4 seconds, then shut off. Tried again, same thing. Fuel pressure was fine but the high pressure pump was starving. I called my buddy who runs a shop in Coeur d'Alene and he said the additive gelled up in the filter at that temp, not the fuel. I had to drop the filter housing, drain it, and run the factory cetane booster before it fired. Still ran rough for 10 minutes. Lesson: some of those aftermarket antigels can make things worse if you don't mix them in right or if you overdo it. Has anyone else seen a filter clog from an additive instead of the fuel itself?

Red label stuff is junk at real temps... ran one bottle and tossed it after that.
