Overheard a guy at the parts counter say he never checks the turbo oil feed line on a delete

I was grabbing a filter yesterday and this dude was bragging about his deleted truck, saying he just slaps the kit on and forgets it. He specifically said he never touches the oil feed line after install. That's wild to me. On my last job, a 6.6 Duramax, that exact line got a tiny piece of grit in it and starved the turbo after about 8 months. Cost the owner a whole new unit. Anyone else make checking that line a standard part of their post-delete service?

Yeah that's just asking for trouble lol. On my old Powerstroke I made it a habit to check the feed line every other oil change. Found some real fine metal shavings starting to collect once, caught it before it got to the turbo. Now I just do a quick visual and feel for any grit when I'm under there. Cheap insurance compared to a new turbo.

Honestly @patricia685, bet some guys are just checking the return line too, not just the feed.

Remember reading a forum post where a guy lost his turbo because he ignored a tiny oil leak at the feed line fitting. He said it was just a weep, nothing major, so he kept putting off fixing it. Turns out it was letting in just enough air to starve the turbo of oil under load. Totally toasted it. Your check for grit is smart, makes me wonder if I should start doing that on my truck too.
