Best Friday I ever had: got a 12-valve running in under an hour

I spent all week chasing a no-start on a '96 Cummins and it turned out to be a bad lift pump that the customer had replaced wrong. My buddy showed me how to bench test it with a cheap vacuum gauge and we had it idling smooth by 3pm. Have you ever had a job that went from nightmare to ez-mode in one afternoon?

Oh man, I've TOTALLY been there. Nothing beats that feeling when a headache job finally clicks and you're just sitting there listening to it purr.

Right there with you. I swear I've spent more time talking to my toolbox than actual people. There's nothing like finally getting a job back together and it actually runs right. My wife thinks I'm nuts when I stand there grinning like an idiot at a running engine. I usually just tell her it's cheaper than therapy, which it probably is considering what I've spent on parts. Plus the neighbors know to leave me alone when they hear me cackling over a running motor.
