Appreciation post: that zip tie trick for injector lines actually works

Had a 6.0 Powerstroke last Wednesday with a chafed injector line and no room to get a wrench in there. Tried using a crowfoot and a swivel socket for almost an hour and nothing lined up right. Finally remembered an old trick a coworker showed me: zip tie the socket to the extension to keep it from wobbling. Got the line off in under 2 minutes after that. Has anyone else used weird little hacks like that to get out of a tight spot?

Used to roll my eyes at zip tie tricks, figured they were just shortcuts that would cause more trouble. Tried it on a tight injector line last month and it saved me a good hour of frustration. Works better than a lot of the expensive specialty tools I've bought over the years.

Same here man, I was exactly the same way. Thought zip tie tricks were just for guys who didn't have the right tool. Then I was swapping out a fuel line on an old Subaru where a regular clamp tool just wouldn't fit. Tried the zip tie trick as a last resort and it held perfectly, got it done in minutes. Now I keep a pack in every tool box and one in the truck too. Cheap little things have saved me more times than I can count on tight hoses and hard to reach clamps. Definitely one of those things you gotta try once to become a believer.
