TIL the old Denver Dry Goods building on 16th Street has been sitting half empty for 3 years
I walked past the old Denver Dry Goods building on 16th Street last Tuesday and noticed something odd. The ground floor windows are all papered up but there was a crew inside doing some kind of demo work around 2pm. I looked it up later and the building has been mostly vacant since 2021, which surprised me because that block gets decent foot traffic near the Pavilions. A leasing agent I know said the owner has been holding out for a single anchor tenant instead of splitting the space, and that's why nothing has moved. Seems like a bad bet in this market with all the office conversions happening downtown. Anyone know if there's actual movement on this one or am I just seeing routine maintenance?
