TIL a $75 'crisping rack' for my deep fryer is just a $6 cooling rack from a restaurant supply store
Saw an ad for this fancy stainless rack that promised to keep fried chicken crispy for an hour, so I grabbed one at a kitchen store in Denver last month for $75. Turns out it's literally a wire cooling rack with a drip tray, and the restaurant supply place two blocks over sells the same thing for $6. I tested both side by side with a batch of wings and the chicken went soggy at the same time on both of them. Save your cash and grab the cheap one, the oil temp and a paper towel do way more than any rack ever will. What's the dumbest overpriced frying gadget you folks have fallen for?
