Crisped up my first batch of okra last night after a month of failed soggy attempts

I grew up hating fried okra but my neighbor in Memphis dropped off a bag of fresh pods so I gave it another shot and finally got that perfect crunch by switching to cornmeal batter and peanut oil at 375 degrees - anyone else have a veggie that took them forever to nail?

Wait a month of failed attempts is a lot of dedication to okra. Is it really that deep?

My neighbor spent three whole months trying to grow a single tomato plant last summer and it just kept getting eaten by bugs. I mean, sometimes you just get fixated on proving you can do something even when the universe keeps telling you no. Maybe it's just me but that kind of stubbornness with gardening says a lot about how we handle every little challenge in our lives.
