That Tuesday when the whole food court at Rolling Acres was cleared out but the lights were still on
Back in March I drove out to Rolling Acres Mall in Akron because a guy on here posted about the Sears entrance and I wanted to see it myself before they boarded it up. The place had maybe six cars in the lot and three of them belonged to the security crew. What got me was the food court, every table was gone but the orange and brown tile pattern was still there, and the lights over where the Sbarro used to be were buzzing like they forgot to turn them off. I stood at the railing for like 20 minutes and could hear my own boots squeak. I got about 40 shots on my phone, mostly of the old Waldenbooks sign hanging crooked and the fountain that had green water in it. The weird part was a single employee at the Bath and Body Works still open, she said corporate kept it running for the lease. Has anyone else run into a dead mall where one random store is still holding on like that?
