Found out my home router was handing out a weird DNS address, and the fix was a sticker on the bottom
Last month my laptop kept pulling up these spam pages even with all my extensions off, so I started digging through my network settings and saw my DNS pointing to some IP I didn't recognize at all. I called my ISP ready to yell at somebody, and the tech had me read the label on the bottom of the router, where the DNS address was printed in tiny letters. Turns out the router had reset after a power blink and was using its own DNS instead of the one I set up two years ago. I typed the printed address back in, saved it, and the junk pages stopped in about 30 seconds. Has anyone else run into a router that quietly resets its own DNS settings after a power outage?
