Wasted $80 on a "lifetime" VPN subscription that was garbage

I fell for this VPN deal on a tech blog (you know, one of those sponsored posts) promising unlimited speed and no logs for life. After 3 months, my connection dropped to dial-up levels during a work video call. Turns out they got bought out and the new owners throttled all the "lifetime" users. Has anyone else gotten burned by those too-good-to-be-true VPN deals?

Lifetime" VPNs are a scam, I learned that one the hard way too.

I actually read somewhere that most "lifetime" VPN deals end up getting sold off to shady companies within a year or two. Grant_hart, you're right to warn people about this, the fine print always lets them change terms whenever they want. Those deals sound great upfront but the service quality drops fast once they stop getting monthly revenue from you.
