Wasted $300 on a VPN service that promised total anonymity

Signed up for a 2 year plan with PrivateShell VPN after their ads claimed 'zero logs, no tracking'. Found out 3 months later when I read their privacy policy update that they sell anonymized data to ad partners. Tried to cancel and get a refund - nope, no refunds after 30 days. Still using a free version of ProtonVPN now and it works fine. Anyone else get burned by a VPN company's fine print?

Damn that's rough, $300 is a lot to just burn like that. I got hit too with NordVPN a couple years back, found out they claimed "no logs" but then got caught with some server data in a police investigation. ProtonVPN's been solid for me too though, at least you found something decent.

walker.max, I feel for you. That whole "no logs" claim turning out to be smoke and mirrors is exactly why I got burned with a similar service years ago. $300 hurts, especially when you find out the promise was hollow. ProtonVPN has been a solid choice for me too, it's nice to finally have something that actually follows through on the privacy end.
