Update: I finally tried a password manager after years of using the same three passwords everywhere
Honestly, I was one of those people who just used my dog's name plus '123' for everything, from my bank login to my old forum accounts. Last month, a friend showed me how he uses a password manager, so I decided to test it against my old method for a week. I set up Bitwarden on my laptop and phone. The difference was huge. Instead of trying to remember variations, it creates and stores a 16-character random password for every site. I don't have to type them in, it just fills them. It even flagged a few old accounts I had on sites that had data breaches. Took maybe an hour to get everything switched over, but now I feel way less stressed. Has anyone else made this switch and found it easier than they thought?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I've been using the same couple passwords for years and never had a problem. Most sites have that two-factor thing now anyway. It just seems like extra work to set up another app for something that hasn't actually gone wrong for me yet.

Yeah the "hasn't gone wrong yet" part is what gets me. Feels like waiting for a leak to fix the roof. But maybe I'm just paranoid.
