Three hours gone because I forgot to check the SSL cert on an old site
Spent my whole Saturday morning hunting down a weird redirect loop on a client's site in Chicago. Turns out their SSL certificate expired 2 weeks ago and Chrome was just refusing to connect properly. Got any tricks for remembering to check certs before they expire? I don't want another wasted afternoon like that.

Used to think calendar reminders were overkill and just kept a list on a sticky note. That sticky note failed me twice last year and that was enough. Got burned real bad when a whole ecommerce site went down and the client found out before I did. Now I have calendar alerts set 45 and 30 days out for every single domain. Also set up a cheap monitoring service that texts me when any cert is under 30 days. The wasted hours from just one missed renewal paid for a whole year of monitoring. Keeps me from feeling like an idiot on a Saturday morning.

Ugh, the "SSL cert expired 2 weeks ago" pain is real. Chrome just silently fails now instead of giving you a clear warning, which is the worst. I set calendar reminders 30 days out for every cert I manage, and I also use a free monitoring service like SSL Labs or even a simple cron job that checks the expiry date and emails me. The calendar trick saves me every time, what do you use for scheduling?
