The simple password trick nobody tells you about

I watched a guy at my office in Phoenix get his email hacked because he used the same password for his banking app and his employee portal. It took the hacker less than 10 minutes to break into both after a phishing link got him on the work side. Why do people still think using one password everywhere is fine, especially when your work account has weaker security?

Ugh this drives me nuts. But I gotta say, your timeline is a little off. Most account takeovers happen way faster than 10 minutes once they have your password from a phishing link. Hackers use automated tools that test credentials against dozens of sites in seconds, not minutes. So the guy was probably compromised across multiple accounts before he even realized he clicked that link. The real trick people should know is using a password manager. It creates different long passwords for everything so one breach doesn’t wreck your whole life. Also work accounts often have weaker security because companies don’t want to annoy employees with constant verification steps. That part you got right for sure.

Yeah you totally nailed the password manager thing @jade_singh. After I fell for a phishing email at work last year I got one and it changed everything for me. I used to reuse the same password for like half my accounts because I couldn't keep track. Now I just let the manager generate random stuff like "HorseBatteryStaple42" and I never even know what they are. The real game changer was when I realized I could set up two factor through the app too. I haven't had a single account issue since then.
