My cousin's kid showed me how he got into my 'secure' guest wifi in about 5 minutes
He was over for a holiday and just said 'your password is on the sticker, aunt Linda' while holding my router. I always figured the default was fine for guests, but he said bots just scan for those common ones. How do you set up a real guest network that's easy for visitors but not a total open door?

That's a solid point from @barbara_baker57 about making a simple custom phrase. Makes me wonder, how often do you guys actually change the guest password? I set one up with a few random words too, but then I just leave it for years because it's a pain to tell everyone the new one. Is there a good middle ground, or do you just accept that a long, weird guest password is the permanent trade-off for safety?

Oh man, that's a wake-up call... I did the same thing with the sticker password for years. What I do now is make a simple word combo in my router settings, like "blue-house-guest" and change it once in a while. It keeps it easy to say out loud but way off the default lists.

So when you change it, do you just pick another random combo of words or do you have a system?
