Went from 47 picks to 12 on my tower crane setup after a 3 week change
I run a potain on a mid rise in Denver and for two years my setup took 47 picks just to get the counterweights and jib on. Three weeks ago I started laying out my rigging diagram the night before instead of the morning of, and now it's down to 12 picks. The big change was labeling every shackle and sling position on paper first so the crew knew exactly where each piece went before we started. My operator buddy told me 'you're rigging twice, once in your head and once in the air' and that stuck with me. Anyone else cut their setup time like this, or am I late to the party on pre-planning the rig?
