Was dead set against remote crane controls until I used one on a job in Pittsburgh last month
Been running cranes for 12 years and always thought remote controls were just a gimmick for lazy operators, you know? But I had to operate from a weird angle next to a high voltage line and the remote let me stand 50 feet away with a clear view of the load. Has anyone else changed their mind about a piece of gear after getting forced to use it on a tight job?

Yeah... never thought about the safety angle with live wires like that.

Most people don't even get close enough for it to matter. You'd have to be pretty careless to mess with live wires.

Right? @blake322 gets it. Last year I was swapping out an old ceiling fan and didn't check if the breaker was actually off. Touched a bare wire with the back of my hand and got a good jolt, scared me bad enough I dropped the whole thing on the floor. People act like it's impossible to mess up but one slip or a bad switch and you're done.
