Warning: My hand signal reading was costing me time on site
I was working a tower crane in Phoenix, moving a big concrete panel. The spotter gave the 'stop' signal, but I kept going slow because I thought he meant 'easy.' The foreman yelled up on the radio, 'He said stop, not creep!' That was the tip off. I realized I was mixing up the slow and stop signals in my head. Now I double check every single signal. Anyone else ever have a close call with a mixed up signal?

A concrete panel? That's a heavy load to be moving on a mixed up signal. The foreman yelling must have been a real wake up call. Good on you for double checking now, that's the only way. A mistake like that with that much weight in the air doesn't bear thinking about.
