Took me three hours to level a Liebherr LTM 1050 on a slope in Tulsa

I had a job last month where the ground was off by about 4 degrees on one side. I spent almost an hour just checking the outrigger pads and resetting them because the dirt kept shifting. What's the longest you guys have spent getting a rig perfectly level before you even lift a load?

You mention "three hours" and honestly that sounds about right for a job with bad ground. I had one years ago where we were setting up on an old parking lot that looked level but had a serious dip hidden under some loose gravel. Took us close to two hours just shuffling those outrigger mats around and checking with the level. The worst part was we got it all set, then the ground settled after we put the first load on and we had to start over. I find that even on days when the setup time eats up half the shift, its still better than rushing and having the rig tilt on you when youve got a load in the air. Patience pays off in this line of work, even when the clock is ticking.

Are you really saying it's worth burning half a shift on setup every time? Some days the clock matters more than perfection, especially when the boss is breathing down your neck.
