That wind gust yesterday made my load spin like a top
Out on a site near the river in Louisville, a 25 mph gust hit my 90 foot boom right as I was lifting a precast panel, and the whole thing rotated maybe 15 degrees before I got it settled. Has anyone else had a load start swinging from a sudden crosswind, and do you have a trick for keeping the tag lines tight without wearing out your crew?

Had a 80 foot stick do the same thing last spring over by the quarry, scared the hell out of me before I got it under control. We started running two tag lines on opposite corners and having the guys keep constant tension instead of just holding them, makes a big difference. Your crew will hate it at first but once they get the rhythm it saves a lot of cussing.

Two tag lines means twice the guys to yell at, sounds about right.
