Rigging guy on site 3 weeks ago told me I was chaining things wrong

I was setting a 12 ton HVAC unit on a roof downtown and this older fella walks up, says my choker hitch was gonna slip. I been doing it the same way for 5 years. He showed me where the eye was riding too close to the load edge, and I’ll be damned if he wasn’t right. Anyone else had some random spotter drop knowledge that changed your setup?

A buddy of mine had a crane op wave him off a lift and saved him from dropping a 3 ton chiller.

Was the crane op already spotting something or did he just catch it?

And you just KNOW that crane op must have had some sixth sense or something because spotting a chiller coming loose mid-lift is not exactly obvious to the naked eye. My heart would have been in my throat if I was the guy on the ground watching that. @finleyf88 you ever had a close call like that? That story from reesemoore gives me the creeps just thinking about it.
