My wife called me out for putting the crane before our family dinner, and it hit home
Ngl, I've been skipping Sunday meals for extra cash on site jobs. Last week, my daughter asked if I even live here anymore during a video call. Honestly, that stung more than any cable snap I've ever felt. I'm dropping the double shifts to be there, plain and simple.

Man, that's tough. How did you finally pull the plug on the extra work? I had a wake-up call too when my kid drew a picture of me as a stranger. I sat down with my foreman and laid out my new limits, no more weekends. It was scary at first, money-wise, but we cut some fun stuff and made it. Best choice I ever made, lol.

Seriously? Cutting back like that seems super risky to me. The bills don't stop coming just because you want more family time. What happens when your kid needs braces or wants to go to college? Work can dry up fast, and saying no to weekends might mean you're first on the list when layoffs come around. Providing solidly is a kind of love too, even if it's less touchy-feely. Sometimes being the "stranger" now means you can be the hero later when they really need you.
